Bramalodge French Kiss AKA Twix

  • Born: 28th September 2021
  • Colour: Chocolate and Tan
  • Sire: Kissdachs Cuba Libre @ Bramalodge (IMP HUN)
  • Dam: Bramalodge Betsy Button

‘Twix’ is third generation home bred, and we are delighted with her. She is testimony to our determination to improve the coat and limbs/feet of our wires without compromising on other conformation. Not perfect, but there is no such thing as the perfect dog!

She is very lovely, incredible coat type, great furnishing, tight strong feet and loads of bone. She moves like a dream, straight back, excellent engine and drive and a clean straight forelimb. She is a gentle tempered girl who loves the cuddles and attention. Very vocal and opinionated however, she has been a challenge since day 1.

She has an incredible nose and loves to work the woodland and moors, her drive often getting her into mischief.

She was late to the party showing her as she isn’t a big fan of crowds and being on the table. But we have got there, and she has pulled a few nice awards out of the bag. If the judges like her type and colour she is very striking and largely correct. Her main failing being a little heavy in the shoulder and wide in front, but we have softened her fitness off and she has actually improved for that. We choose to let our dogs free run a lot to keep them fit. But the resulting muscling can sometimes make them look very hefty compared to others in the ring!

Health test results for Twix are excellent. A unbeatable IDC Grade 0 back score and clear for heart and eyes.

Twix had her second litter in 2025, this one with the lovely Spruce. Belonging to Sue and Ian Seath of Sunsong Dachshunds, Ch Sunsong Dare To Dream was made up at The Wire Haired Dachshund Club Championship show 2024 where Twix’s full sister Pancake claimed her first CC. With both Twix and Spruce carrying the chocolate gene I was very hopeful for some chocolate and wild boar puppies from this match. What I got was exactly that. But 4 BOYS! And I wanted a girl… So, it’s back to the drawing board as a dog pup from this cross just didn’t fit in with my plans.

Mike Turner – West Of England Championship Show 2024

Howe’s Bramaldoge French Kiss. Really super chocolate wild boar bitch of opposite type to 1, but equally as good. Shorter-coupled but moved like a rocket, driving from her powerful rear.

Judith Carruthers – Bath Championship Show

Novice Bitch (1,0)

Bramalodge French Kiss (Howe) enjoying her day out! Balanced head, good length of neck, well laid back shoulders but short upper arm and heavy over the shoulders. Good length of rib and well angulated rear quarters. Moved wide in front. Hard coat.
