About us
Keeping it in the family.
Bramalodge are 2 generations of Standard Wirehaired Dachsund (SWHD) Breeders, based in the beautiful county of Derbyshire. Originally founded by my parents Julia and Graham, our foundation bitches were imported in 2013 and since then we have all become totally captivated by these charming, intelligent, cheeky, vivacious and loving ‘little big’ dogs and would not be without them for all the world.
I, Emily, have been at the helm since 2019… I care for, train and groom all our dogs myself, with help from Mum, Dad and Matty. Keen for more knowledge I have recently enrolled on the Level 3 Diploma in canine welfare, training and behaviour with a plan to continue forward to level 4.

Our dogs are very special and the centre of all that we do.
We’re incredibly proud of our pack. They are loyal, loving, strong, confident, gentle and kind. All our dogs live in the house with us, sharing our home and our daily lives. They have access to a large walled garden 24/7 via a dog flap with various areas and sheltered spots. They all go on regular/daily walks, both on and off lead.
Our dogs are busy, active, fit and playful - often going out on the moors and round the woodlands, covering challenging terrain and some considerable miles without difficulty. We are a 2-10 minute walk from local parks and less than 10 minutes drive from Linacre Woods and the Peak District. Road walking for socialisation and strength is also a regular thing.

What we do.
Some dogs attend regular training sessions for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme with A and S Dog Training in Chesterfield. It is in my future plan to start tracking work with some of them as well, as soon as I have the time!!
All our baby puppies start puppy school, lead work and recall training as soon as possible! Usually, 10 weeks old.
My father has often worked our dogs in the field, in the past, blood tracking, in Scotland. Until recently he still laid training tracks/trails for them to practice, and introduced some of our newer additions to the sport. He needs a new hip and carpal tunnel surgery, but hopes to get back to walking and working dogs when he has been put back together!
I have also enquired about doing agility with one of my girls, Jelly, which would be very exciting/entertaining. Many of our dogs are involved in showing. We regularly compete up to Championship level with success.
